Job Description:
We are currently seeking a GENERAL MILLRIGHT. This position is on a 40-hour work-week, working day shift with Saturday/Sunday off-days.
Job Responsibilities:
- Treat passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
- Work to close tolerances during fitting and overhaul operations
- Perform moderately complex installation, inspection, overhaul, repair and maintenance to a wide variety of mechanical equipment, including components and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Troubleshoot, install and maintain the hydraulic and pneumatic systems on rail work cars
Job Requirements:
- General knowledge of shop practices and the ability to propose and devise improvements to maintenance procedures for shop equipment
- A valid non-probationary class “G” Ontario Driver’s licence
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to pass tests set by the Operations Group which corresponds in content to the knowledge, theory and/or practical requirements described above
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
- The successful candidate will be required to attend and successfully complete training programs for Subway/SRT Rule Book certification, forklift truck, trackmobile, and transfer table operations and non-revenue rail vehicle operations (pertinent to the assigned location)
Qualification & Experience:
- One year of experience working with a variety of complex hydraulic systems such as load and power sensing systems, variable volume systems, hydrostatic components, servo-proportional valves and programmable logic controlled (PLC) systems is preferred
- A valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
- Completion of Grade 12 or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department, plus the successful completion of the apprenticeship training program for the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright trade)
- Familiarity with, and experienced in, the maintenance of a large variety of shop equipment
