Job Description:
The Analytics Development Manager is responsible for leading the day to day operation of the 18-month learning and development journey of the training program and growing the next generation of Top Talent for Research and Design Teams across Southwest Airlines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day work assignments and learning opportunities for each individual
- Provide Coaching and Mentoring to an annual training class of Associate Analyst Employees ensuring that all Team members experience a healthy and spirited culture where they receive the training, experience and nurturing needed to pursue successful careers at Southwest Airlines
- Design metrics and practical work projects to demonstrate proficiency in skills taught, mastery of concepts taught, and ability to learn and recall standard schedule and airline information
- Work closely with Managers and Sr. Managers across NP & Operational Teams to schedule subject matter experts to training effort
- Work closely with Leader to design a non-traditional innovative learning curriculum for training class (approximately 18 months) that provides speed to proficiency in hard skills, soft skills and business knowledge incorporating classroom and hands-on learning required for sound business analytics
- May perform other job duties as directed by Leaders
- CI mindset and Growth Mindset required; seek opportunities to innovate, improve curriculum and learning processes, and implement efficiencies seeking to stay current on successful adult learning techniques and learning framework
- Develop a scorecard type structure to report out Team progress and individual progress to both Leaders and Individuals; provide coaching and mentoring for the group and individually giving timely and specific feedback for areas that need improvement
- Work closely with Managers and Sr. Managers across NP & Operational Teams to define and acquire Analyst work
- Must meet confidentiality expectations regarding confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
Job Requirements:
- Able to identify relevant items for communication both internally and externally without being coached by Leader
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to recall key information such as schedule statistics and decision details
- Demonstrates ability to interpret data, draw implications and modify approach, most importantly, as it relates to training needs
- Ability to make decision in an ambiguous environment with the courage to make decisions with limited information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required providing concise communications
- Ability to influence decision making and consensus with or without title and authority
- Identifies project/analysis opportunities perfect for the program and is able to prioritize in context of other work
- Must possess strong organizational skills and execute with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to teach going beyond simple numerical checks to insure quality control and accuracy even in complex situations with tight deadlines
Qualification & Experience:
- Required: 4+ years of experience successfully leading people or project
- Required: 4+ years of experience in Network Planning, Commercial Planning or other Operational Planning Department required
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree – Finance, Economics, math, Analytics, Business or Engineering
- Preferred: Project Management Professional Certification
- Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification
