Job Description:

Sappi Tugela Mill based in Mandini, KZN, requires a Specialist: NSSC (Ligno) to maximise plant perfomance by monitoring, guiding and co-ordinating resources and processes. This role reports in to the Process Manager .

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitors monthly the performance of the Pulp Mill against the QCDPE objectives and takes corrective action if required.
• Compile a short term plan (budget) and a long term plan (up to 5 years) and executes the plans to develop the machinery, the people and the best practices to ensure a continuous improvement of the pulp mill performance.
• Manages S-H-E-Q system by focusing on the risk analysis, and monitors monthly the plant’s and personnel’s performance against the S-H-E-Q objectives.
• Communicates with the internal / external suppliers / customers and responds to customer feedback and takes corrective action if required.
• Facilitates Lean Manufacturing Processes and philosophies, as well as the profit (continuous) improvement program (PIP).
• Facilitates and plans annual shut down processes from an operational perspective.
• Defines key performance indicators (KPI), as well as the monthly and annual objectives, in the areas of quality, cost, delivery, safety/people and environment (QCDPE) for his/her subordinates and for their respective domains, aligned with the mill goals, budget and the S-H-E-Q system.
• Ensures NSSC/Ligno section’s conformance to the OSHACT, ISO 9002 and ISO 14000 systems.
• Plans the plant operations to ensure the maximum utilization of the resources (raw materials, energy, and people).
• Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non Conformances and corrects deviations.

Job Requirements:

• Computer Literacy (SAP & MS Office).

Qualification & Experience:

• B Tech (pulp and paper).
• 2 years’ Supervisory experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of which 3 years working on a Plant Operations process.
