Job Description:
The Housing Programs Branch is responsible for the development and implementation of the ministry’s housing and homelessness prevention initiatives. The Housing Programs Branch designs, implements, administers, and monitors these programs and works in partnership with Ontario’s 47 municipal service managers and two Indigenous Program Administrators to deliver these programs. Relationships with municipal services offices, municipal service managers, Indigenous Program Administrators, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, non-profit and co-operative housing providers, the private sector and non-profit builders are key to the branch activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage with ministry stakeholders, such as municipal service managers, other ministries, the federal government, and non-profit housing proponents
- Develop mitigation strategies, applying analysis, negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve issues
- Provide project and program leadership to teams
- Review and finalize payment recommendations with appropriate explanations and supporting data for review
- Oversee development of program processes and documentation
- Serve as the primary contact for coordination and implementation of the ministry’s housing and homelessness prevention programs
- Provide leadership in identifying opportunities for the ministry to develop and implement affordable housing and homelessness prevention programs
Job Requirements:
- You have knowledge of housing sectors and redevelopment issues to lead the implementation of affordable housing projects.
- You can develop strategies to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
- You can analyze financial and statistical data and make recommendations.
- You have consultation skills to play a lead role in the analysis, negotiation and resolution of program policy issues.
- You can identify emerging issues, risks and impediments to the successful delivery of programs and play a leading role in the analysis and resolution of program policy and implementation issues.
- You have stakeholder relations, consultation, facilitation and advisory skills to establish and maintain working relations with multiple housing and homelessness stakeholders.
- You can develop and maintain project plans, using project management techniques and methodologies.
- You can provide technical guidance and team leadership to staff and consultants.
- You have knowledge of affordable housing and homelessness prevention programs, policies, legislation and strategies.
