The JetBlue Emerging Talent (JET) internship program provides skill & professional development through participation in the developing real-world business solutions that support the delivery of strategic business initiatives. Throughout the program, interns participate in a robust programming including professional development activities, cross-functional projects, senior leader exposure, networking, and community service. The JET Program provides interns the opportunity to immerse themselves into the aviation industry while developing specific career interest or areas of study.The JET Intern Flight Operations Safety will report to the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS and will support Flight Operations compliance with JetBlue Safety Management System (SMS) policies, procedures and risk controls. The Intern will be responsible for reviewing data collected by JetBlue’s Safety Assurance programs (Safety Reporting, Investigations, Audits and/or Data Analysis). The Intern will be responsible for administrative duties as assigned, data entry, creating presentations and supporting meetings as requested by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize (Aviation Quality Database) AQD to manage workflow such as change management, ASAP reports, Safety Action Reports (SAR’s), and risk management
  • Administer and maintain Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s) for Pilot ASAP
  • Conduct research, compile and analyze data and prepare materials for consideration and draft presentations to explain upcoming initiatives
  • Support the change management process within Flight Operations
  • Serve as liaison between Flight Operations and other departments
  • Track and maintains Safety Assurance Dashboard to include successful deadlines with regard to findings, actions and risk reviews assigned to Flight Operations.
  • Data analysis and trending as requested by Flight Operations and other departments.
  • Provide support during internal and external Flight Operations audits as requested.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action development as needed to mitigate identified risks
  • Present safety information to small audiences (i.e., new hire pilots) as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS
  • Assist with data research and presentation preparation
  • Record and disseminate meeting minutes
  • Assist in the administration of the Pilot Aviation Safety Action Program at the direction of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS to include creating presentations, creating and tracking action items, closing reports, issuing debrief instructions and issuing ERC recommendations as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and accuracy
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • Able to travel and/or work variable hours, flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and understand new software in detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines

Qualification & Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation related field
  • Previous aviation work experience
  • One (1) year of analytical experience
  • Holds FAA Airman Certificate (Pilot license or Dispatcher license), has undertaken equivalent academic courses for pre-requisite aviation knowledge, or is working towards an FAA Airman Certificate
  • Experience with content management systems such as SharePoint
  • Experience presenting to small-medium audiences
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
