Job Description:

Provide technical input to, among others, to the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station Dosimetry programme, effluent and radwaste management, instrumentation, and operational programmes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify deficiencies, make recommendations and check implementation thereof.
• Routinely review radiation protection documents for adequacy.
• Check that radiation protection documents incorporate the requirements specified in the Eskom hierarchy of radiation protection documents.
• Verify that procedures and standards are updated and reflect current practices.
• Compile technical reports.
• Review the quality control programme and verify compliance, identify deficiencies, make recommendations and check implementation thereof.
• Review internal and external dosimetry practices and determine statutory and procedural compliance and compliance to international dosimetry standards.
• Perform occurrence investigations, identify corrective actions and compile occurrence reports as required.
• Improve / update programmes.
• Write reports on technical reviews.
• Perform technical reviews of radiation protection programmes against standards and world experience.
• Review radiation protection procedures, reports, and other radiation protection related documents for technical correctness.
• Incorporate radiation protection special work instructions into appropriate procedures.
• Develop new radiation protection techniques for use at Koeberg nuclear power station.
• Review records generated by the sections and check that the records are documented in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Correspond with regulator for implementation approval.
• Oversee document control and administration within the radiation protection group.
