Job Description:

Pipeline Mechanic is proficient in maintenance work processes required for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of pipeline systems. They coordinate their own work and work with other team members or contractors in performing daily maintenance work processes. Complete required training and certifications. Pipeline mechanics are required to demonstrate competencies expected of someone in the Mechanic role and will be assessed on these competencies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor a reciprocating compressor and its reciprocating engine.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot a reciprocating pump.
  • Utilize condition-based maintenance (CBM) process and devices used for monitoring plant equipment.
  • Able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) card within 6 months of employment.
    Maintain gearboxes.
  • Perform normal planned maintenance, utilize appropriate maintenance and identify the hazards involved.
  • Select and assemble tubing, piping, and pipe fitting material. Inspect and maintain valves. Maintain relief devices.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot a centrifugal pump.
  • Perform planned maintenance of plant equipment and complete appropriate documentation.
  • May act as Field Team liaison with Subject Matter Experts and perform link pin or link pin type responsibilities.
  • May coordinate the inspection, performance and documentation of facilities compliance checks, track compliance checklists, and any other responsibilities as directed by the Filed Team Leader.
  • Perform equipment alignment. Witness and/or practice safe rigging and lifting utilizing correct procedures and methods; recognize and protect personnel from hazards.
  • Locate and read core drawings for a facility.
  • Maintain fans and blowers.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding leaks, line locations and encroachments and take appropriate action to rectify.
  • Apply mechanical equipment maintenance fundamentals.

Job Requirements:

  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends (as needed).
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills are critical.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.

  • Injury Free Operations with a proven track record in Safety and Reliability.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a completed apprenticeship or certificate from a trade or technical school, with experience
  • Work experience in refinery or petrochemical industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience developing job plans for instrumentation scopes.
