Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with the local tax Business Partners, contribute towards maintenance and enhancement of relationships with tax authority personnel in the region.
  • Implementation of improvement, simplification and automation opportunities relating to tax accounting and tax reporting processes.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of any local transfer pricing obligations, in collaboration with the central transfer pricing team.
  • Management of the region’s tax risks including specifically the maintenance of the Tax Control Framework (“TCF”) in the region.
  • In collaboration with tax policy and tax GRC SMEs, prepare and coordinate training material on tax strategy, tax governance, risk management and TCF for local advisors, BU Finance and HR teams.
  • Management of assigned portfolio of Business Units’ and Group’s internal tax reporting requirements, including monthly cash forecasting, ETR forecasting, budgeting, interim and year-end processes.
  • Management of the regional direct tax compliance obligations of the assigned portfolio, with assistance across all other taxes (VAT, Payroll taxes etc). This also includes direct engagement with the group’s chosen compliance outsource provider (where relevant).
  • Assist in the engagement with local auditors on tax accounting calculations and tax reporting positions.
  • Assist with the management of SA tax authority correspondence, including maintaining the audit tracker and Uncertain Tax Positions Log – and coordinate responses to audits, whilst working with the respective subject matter experts and business partnering teams as appropriate.
  • Assist in development, monitoring and application of appropriate controls for the SA region.
  • Assist with the implementation of changes to process, controls and systems in relation to the SA region.

Job Requirements:

  • Efficient work practices.
  • A good working knowledge of SA tax principles, transfer pricing, CIT, indirect tax processes, etc.
  • Ability to undertake presentations to Senior Management.
  • How to influence people and manage change.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience of tax accounting, tax audits, deferred tax and tax reporting.
  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent accounting degree
