Job Description:

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for providing dedicated technical and operational systems support to the process division with a time frame of 2-5 years. The role requires a high degree of competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants. The role is further responsible to ensure that all systems are maintained and optimised to ensure that the capacity to the production process is maximised.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with commissioning for onsite projects
  • Control Solution support to projects
  • Management of the quality assurance plan
  • Scheduling and prioritising maintenance tasks
  • Implementation of modifications to the control solution
  • Providing support on existing instrumentation, networks, hardware and software
  • Recommending and identifying areas of process instability
  • Performing calibration and maintenance of all equipment within the control solution
  • Auditing high risk and safety critical areas
  • Setting instrumentation guidelines
  • Setting control solution guidelines
  • Execution and testing of scheduled backups on all control systems
  • Recommending and identifying high risk and safety critical areas
  • Recommending and identifying areas of poor availability
  • Analyzing and identifying problems on the current systems and infrastructure
  • Adhering to Anglo Platinum Standards
  • Reviewing the process performance reports
  • Compiling control maintenance budgets for process control section
  • Performing system troubleshooting exercises and software and hardware problems resolution
  • Training and development of end-users
  • Adhering to the Anglo Platinum Change Procedure
  • Implementing corrective action for areas of instability
  • Disseminating Best Practice in instrumentation aspects

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Good management skills
  • Good decision-making skills
  • It would be advantageous if you are registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or registered as a Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA
  • English literate
  • Valid driving licence code 08
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and specifications

Qualification & Experience:

  • 7 years’ work experience in Instrumentation/Automation
  • 5 years’ relevant management experience
  • An Engineering-related Degree – BSc Engineering, BEng, BTech and
  • Project Management experience
