Job Description:

The Registered Nurse will report to the Relief Team Program Manager of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Permanent Float Pool and shall work to the full scope of the RN according to CARNA and the policies of the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The successful applicant will be orientated to and expected to work on all Stollery inpatient units. This position supports the 5 inpatient units. The successful candidate is part of the multidisciplinary team caring for pediatric patients and their family within a Family Centered Care philosophy. He/she must be able to apply this philosophy in practice. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Recent Acute Care experience in Pediatrics will be valuable to be successful in this challenging position. Job Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Pre-hire Interview Medication Calculation Exam.
  • Excellent organizational and assessment skills with the ability to work independently and communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Acute care Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) course – completed during orientation.
  • Current Acute care experience in an adult care environment would be preferred if there is no pediatric experienc
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration Exam with 90% or greater completed during orientation.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
